My original intent was to write a post predicting this year’s winners, but in the end it probably wouldn’t have been anything exciting considering how predictable this years Oscar’s were. Best supporting actress, Melissa Leo? Check. Best supporting actor, Christian Bale? Check. Best actress, Natalie Portman? Check. Best actor, Colin Firth? Check. The only point in the night where I gasped in surprise (and delight!) was when Melissa Leo dropped an f-bomb in her acceptance speech. Also, the hosts confused me; James Franco was extremely tense and Anne Hathaway seemed to be compensating for it by being extra bubbly.
No matter, on to more important things… The dresses! Hathaway had eight different outfits all to herself, and I loved all but one. It pains me to choose just one for best dressed, so here are my top three for Hathaway, five best for everyone else and my all time favourite!
Anne Hathaway #1
This burgundy Atelier Versace was breathtaking, I liked it much better than her other red number (Valentino). I suppose if I HAD to choose just one for Hathaway it would be this stunner.
Anne Hathaway #2
Second place goes to this amazing custom Lanvin tuxedo and Brian Atwood pumps. I love a girl in a good tux and on top of that I’m a complete sucker for Lanvin. Fast fact: I wore a suit to my grade nine grad- great idea in concept, not so much in execution.
Anne Hathaway #3
Lastly is this gorgeous cream Givenchy Haute Couture. Delightful.
Five Best Dressed, not really in any particular order:
Mila Kunis in Elie Saab
Cate Blanchett in Givenchy
Sandra Bullock in Vera Wang
Natalie Portman in Rodarte
Hilary Swank in Gucci
Just for fun, here’s my all time favourite.
Mustard yellow + pleats + bright lips = heaven
What were your favourite dresses? Thoughts on my picks?
